Abstract

Undergraduate and graduate students have serious problems arguing correctly at the level appropriate to their studies. The fact that, like all human beings, they can argue in their daily lives and for everyday purposes is not enough for them to be able to do so in academic life and for the purposes of academia. A first step in teaching high-level argumentation is to raise students’ awareness of what arguing is and how it is carried out. A technique developed in Holland to improve labor relations in companies and government agencies through the analysis of moral dilemmas is here proposed as a means to achieve such awareness in a simple, fast, and efficient way.
